According to HP (when I called) they can't do any adjustments to those dat
drives; you either insert cleaning cartridge (3 times in a row to handle
really tough dirty heads) or replace the unit. I replaced the unit and got
the same blinking pattern (on still other tapes) with the other unit. Maybe
we have a bunch of bad tapes, but I dunno...  All the stores we've done
validate ok, and I only seem to get the blinking pattern after a full "/"
store (on iX 5.0)...
