I have not worked on MPE for over a decade. So, I am quite unfamiliar with the
current capabilities of MPE. I am considering buying an A500 system to develop
a software in the form of mostly several routines. I want to use only flat and
KSAM files, no Image or other databases. I would like user to use a browser
like MS Internet Explorer as an interface to my system and I have no idea how to
do this. Can anyone answer the following questions?
1. How difficult it would be to write a server application on HP3000 that will
receive commands from the browser and send data back to the browser? Is a
software package available to facilitate this task?
2. Do I need any other hardware and/or software?
3. I can get an A500 HPUX unit at a very good price. Does HP sell a kit to
convert this to MPE? If it does, any idea on its cost? I believe that the MPE
filesystem is much better suited to my application. Hence, I am inclined to
write it for MPE platform rather than Unix.
Thank you in advance.
