In order for either AccuCobol, MircoFocus or Fujitsu Cobol tools to enable a
direct code reuse-migration to Windows NT/2000, HP/UX, Unix AIX, Sun Solaris
or Linux, (without implementing middleware emulation software/hardware
technology) - your HP e3000 COBOL II/XL code must first be converted to open
systems ANSI 1985/1997 compliant COBOL, and to the syntax of your target
COBOL (i.e AccuCobol, MircoFocus, etc.).

After your HP e3000 COBOL II/XL is fully convert to Open Systems source and
to the target COBOL vendor (i.e AccuCobol, MircoFocus, etc.), you would then
compile the selected COBOL source to your chosen open systems platform (i.e.
HP/UX, Windows, etc.) using the selected COBOL vendor’s compiler tool
suites.

But first … HP e3000 COBOL II/XL (programs, applications, IMAGE database,
data, files, screen sections, etc.) must first be fully converted to open
systems ANSI 1985 compliant COBOL, and to the syntax of a selected vendor
COBOL. The 1997 COBOL standard incorporates the required screen sections
which is now the standard for all screens in COBOL.

Our company has converted over half-billion lines of various proprietary
COBOL (DEC VAX COBOL, IBM DOS/VS COBOL, WANG VS COBOL – more recently HP
e3000 COBOL II/XL) for over 15 years. As a matter of fact many of the COBOL
customer success stories listed on the Accucorp’s web site were actually
converted by us (Seagrams America, Alaska National Insurance, Cincinnati
Public Schools, Alaska National Insurance, etc.).

If you would like to actually see some of your HP e3000 programs running on
Windows or Unix we could convert a small sub-system for you just as a demo
(no obligation or cost). It would take us about a week to convert, test and
set up a dial-in review (50,000-100,000 lines of code and sample data).

Also, if we can answer any technical questions about HP e3000 COBOL II/X
migration, or AccuCobol, MircoFocus or Fujitsu Cobo, just give a call – 800
868 6426 ask for Dick or Mike.

Subject: [HP3000-L] HP3000 Migration

A client received some marketing material this week concerning Migration of
their HP3000. It notes in the materials that parts may not be available
after October 2003. Can anyone elaborate on this?
