Earlier, I noted a four-paragraph article on NEWS.COM that began:

    Computing giant Hewlett-Packard on Monday will designate Linux as one of
    its three "strategic operating systems" and will add new products and
    services to support it.

The article has been updated, and is now much longer.

Some interesting tidbits:

   -- according to IDC, Compaq sells the most machines with Linux
      preloaded.

   -- Jim Bell, general manager of HP's "Open Source and Linux Operation,"
      is quoted as saying HP had "hundreds of people in dozens of divisions"
      working on Linux projects.  (Did the 3000 ever have that many?)
