If the tape is indeed a Store tape you cannot do anything with the tape
except restore it. It will be in the Store/Restore format. If you want to
read a tape created from a 3000 system elsewhere, have the originator FCOPY
the desired file(s).

Subject: [HP3000-L] trying to read tapes

Hi folks,
I want to read a file from tape, but don't know anything about it.
In the header of the tape I can read the string
"store/restore-hp/3000.mpexl".
Does this tell you anything ?
What do I need to read this ? Some HP hard- or software? Or exists some
linux tool ?
Thanks for your time, Sven.
