Objet : Purging Protected Files
>By accident, files which reside in the SYS account were restored from tape
>into another account (I'll call it the 'accident' account). This has given
>us two copies of files such as SYSGEN.PUB and CI.PUB, one in the normal SYS
>account and one in the 'accident' account. Try as I might, I cannot purge
>many of the files from the 'accident' account, as the OS (MPE/ix 5.5 pp 6)
>"knows" that they are system files. I have tried purging the 'accident'
>account, the groups in the 'accident' account, and the files by individual
>names. I have tried altering file characteristics using both MPE and MPEX
>commands, and I still can't get the OS to let me purge these files. A
>LISTF,-3 shows the files' security to be off, but the files are labeled
>'PROTECTED'.

>Does anyone have any ideas about how I can purge these files, perhaps by
>changing their characteristics so they are not 'PROTECTED' any longer?

>Thanks for whatever ideas you can provide.
