Hi all,
I just came back from the HPe3000 Solutions Symposium.
Winston told us, that 50% of the vendors and customers were moving away
from the 3000 prior to his announcement.
But, no names were given.

What I now know is that HP has no clue about the migration.
They are offering a loaner-program for 6 month.
Great but
- where is the database?
- where is the compiler?
- where is a screen-designer?
All this came with MPE but with HP-UX ??

Every continent has different programs for the transition.
Why not 1 for all?

HP manager said, that HP knows the HPe3000 and MPE best !!
Great joke. How many at HP really know about the HPe3000, MPE, Image and
VPLUS?

Then I listened to the seminar with the title
"software migration services from HP"
Guess what, we learned about the problems that we would have but not 1 word
about the services from HP. Nothing. After a question about this the answer
was "leave your business-card and we'll send you a white paper".
Excellent. Next time, be prepared and come prepared for the seminar.

But the free gift in the bag matched HP very much.
A pen with bubble-liquid.
That's what HP seems to be at the moment.
Lot's of bubbles and full of hot air.

Everybody seems to sell emulation of MPE for Unix, Linux and Windows.
Even HP India.
Well I want the real thing and not some emulation.
If nobody wants the 3000 and MPE how come that HP is re-inventing it on
these OS?

Not one word about the transition that HP is planning for their 3000
applications. But I heard, that HP still runs it's 3000 on MPE/iX 5.5
Hey, wake up. That is no longer supported.

How about if HP migrates their 3000 software first and scap all 3000s or
donate them and then they can talk about migration and their service.
Then they have some experience.

Very disapointed in HP management and their late performance.

Michael
