We're having the same problem here across three Telnet Express boxes. The
problem appears to be related to router load (CPU utilization and/or traffic).
We can recreate the problem by telling the network management station to
discover new nodes which intermitently drives router CPU utilization up to
near 100%. Other applications don't seem to be affected although things
slow down.

A protocol analysis of the tail end of the occurance showed the Telnet
Express box ignoring packets from the PC and then finally responding
with a RST packet which closed the connection.

There don't appear to be any duplicate IP addresses. We use bootp address
assignments. Windows 95 will sometimes keep the old IP address when things
change but I ran an HP Network Advisor Fault Finder on the affected areas
and no duplicate IP addresses were flagged during the time of the problem.
We also double checked the individuals involved.

I passed this suggestion along to our system manager as I'm not sure
where these log files are kept.

Thanks for your response to the original poster's problem. :-)

I'll post here if we find something further. I'm wondering if the
Telnet Express box's TCP implementation is less robust than
other devices (PCs, 9000s, etc.).
