If you cannot wait for the patch delivering the HPSPOOLID
variable that Jeff Vance mentioned in a recent posting, then
you might go ahead and parse the output of something like
SHOWOUT JOB=J!HPJOBNUM
or
SPOOLF @;SELEQ=[JOBNUM=J!HPJOBNUM];SHOW
to have a job find out its own spoolfile ID. I use a similar
method to have the backup job trigger a follow-up job that
puts the job-listing into a subdirectory that belongs to the
3000-based web server.
This way I can check our backup job listings from my web
browser with a few mouse-clicks instead of logging on to
the systems or shuffling paper listings.
