We are using the OpenView for Windows platform for DTC MGR and for SNMP node

management. Some of the nodes monitored are remote DTC's. Using OV's SNMP,
we
can easily check on things like the current number of TCP connections
(Telnet),
even a dump of the IP addresses connected. Trend analysis is provided by
collecting data at timed intervals and either displaying them on a dynamic
graph
or storing them in a log file.

If you are having difficulty using the SNMP Manager with DTC's, the key is
to
not try it on a DTC node defined within DTC MGR. Create a different DTC node
on
a map using the generic "DTC" symbol name that is not defined within DTC MGR.

OpenView's polling can also be enabled for this generic DTC separate from
DTC
MGR's polling.
