IIRC, it will lose the EJECT=ENABLE setting upon reboot and go back to
EJECT=DISABLE. We put the EJECT=ENABLE into the backup when we were
using DDS-Autoloaders to make sure that it wouldn't sit there waiting
for humans to eject the tape and put in the next one.

That was some number of years ago though.

Hope this helps,
Howard

I don't believe the settings change on reboot or even power cycles.
Once
you have set the drive one way, it stays that way until you mess with it
again with DEVCTRL or something equivalent that talks to the drive
itself.

I usually have my DDS drives set to NOT eject and NO COMPRESS.
    !DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP  7, disable, disable

I suspect that on a reboot, thats all reset to YES EJECT.

So my backup jobs have the DEVCTRL to set things as I want them.
    !DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP 7, enable, disable /* COMPRESS, NO EJECT
*/
    do STORE
    !DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP 7, disable, enable /* NO COMPRESS, EJECT
*/
    do VSTORE
    !DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP 7, disable, disable /* NO COMPRESS, NO
EJECT
*/

When I come in to swap the tapes, if they are not ejected,
something may be wrong: Job failed, or some step of backup
is still running.
