You didn't happen to mention how much memory your system has. It is often
possible to achieve very impressive performance increases just by adding
more memory. I'd look into this very seriously before even considering a
new machine. The cost of adding more memory to your 918 (even a lot more
memory) would only be a small fraction of the cost of getting a new
machine.
