I've spoken (OK, e-mailed several times) with Chris Bartram, and sent a
message to Jeff (who owns the list)...

There is a plan on the table where we can filter spam, and *more than
likely*, still let people keep their "antispam" domains (although moving it
to your mailbox name would be preferable).

The newsfeed (from CCCD) would be sent here as normal, we would then "gate
it" with an HP3000 using NetMail. The Spam gets filtered at this point and
then forwarded to HP3000-L.

It would work the same in reverse -- mail to HP3000-L would be sent to an
HP3000 here, the SPAM would get filtered, and then sent to the NG, where
CCCD then picks it up and sends it to the rest of the world on Usenet.

Note that this will NOT kill off Spam that is sent directly to HP3000-L.

If this sounds good, we can implement it as soon as I hear from Jeff. Mark:
Nothing need be done on your end, you'll still receive and send posts as
normal. Jeff: You would have a slight change to the current address to
where you send the mail (and actually, I can do that here, but I'd like
Jeff's OK before we do something like this).

So... chime in on what you think. I personally think that cutting off
DejaNews is not a good thing as there are legitimate posts which come via
DejaNews. Spam Filtering would be better as it would still allow those who
need to use a service such as DejaNews, to use this vehicle to make their
posts.

Best,
Joe
