Goodness. Well, this may be in poor taste, and can be interpreted
differently according to one's beliefs, but didn't Jesus say to "let your
yes be yes, and your no be no"? There you have it, and on the highest
authority...

But seriously. I am between class meetings and final exam for a Boston
University grad course in database management, and for no significant reason
in particular, we used Oracle, perhaps because it is available free for such
uses, for popular platforms. There sure is something to be said for enforced
standards! Now, while neither KSAM nor Image have intrinsic standards for
Booleans, can you make a case for shop standards? Fortunately, in COBOL, you
can have an 88 identifier with values of Y, T, and 1 for flagname-TRUE, etc.
