Any NetMail/3000, Freeware NetMail, DeskLink, or Popserver/3000 sites out
there might be interested in the following;

We (just today) posted updates to the B.06 release of all the above on our
www (www.3k.com) and ftp (ftp.3k.com) servers that has a couple of new anti-
spam features which should help you cut down on the trash arriving daily from
the 'net.
-All the above products now support "local" versions of our "exclude" and
"refuse" files (which identify known spam sites by IP address ranges and
"From" addresses respectively). "excludel.data.threek" and "refusel.data.
threek" are looked for and scanned (if present) in addition to the standard
  "excludes.data.threek" and "refuse.data.threek".
-We posted a job "UPDTSPAM" in the ANTISPAM directory on ftp.3k.com which
anyone can pick up and can be streamed on demand to automatically update
your excludes and refuse file from our server (which gets updated several
times per week). Fire off the job daily/weekly to keep your spam filters
constantly up-to-date, and still maintain your own local/custom filters in
  addition if you like.
-We currently filter about known-spammer networks, and several hundred
known spammer e-mail addresses. We participate in several anti-spam
mail lists to keep up to date on new sites; we also maintain an abuse
mailbox ([log in to unmask]) to which updates can be submitted (admins only
  please).
-A JCW can be set in this version that also automatically refuses any mail
coming with bogus domain names; this catches quite a few also.
-The latest version of our mail servers now transparently identifies spam
sites (i.e. gives them no indication they've been identified) and silenty
refuses any incoming mail by telling their mailer that the address they're
using isn't valid. This tricks the spammers mailers into potentially
removing your address from further spam mailings. The mailer also logs all
refused spam in errorlog.netmail.hpoffice, indentifying each "intended"
recipient as well as the source. (Try it - it's REALLY satisfying watching
the system log the spams as they're blocked! ;-) )
-As always, the latest release of all packages are available for download on
our servers 24x7; updates are simple, fast, and (relatively?) painless. All
existing configuration info/queued mail is preserved.
-Any questions, e-mail [log in to unmask] or call us at 800-Net-Mail (US/Canada).

                  -Chris Bartram
