It's the new tapes! AVR can't read a label on a new tape, because it's
blank, so it gets an I/O error trying. This is normal. If you get the error
from a tape that you know contains data, you have a problem with the
drive.

Got the following error message when putting in several tapes in a row
on an
HPIB connected DDS Tape Drive. Which was just replaced not more than
1 month
ago.

Cleaned Drive with cleaning tape.
Tried several new tapes (DDS-60)
Tried powering off device and turning back on.

I/O error ignored during AVR I/O status %74
(does anyone have any idea what this means??)

The backup seems to work okay.....

MPE Version 3.0 (No...It's not a typo)
HP3000 Series 950

Thanks for any insights...btw...I am planning on doing a reboot of the
system to see if that helps.
