I am disappointed that you color information as an attempt to cast a
"conspiracy" story, scandal or devious behavior on the part of HP - none of
which I look for or expect, and none of which did my post cast. I do
however, expect the truth. I feel the community has a right to know the
truth, no matter what it is. Put the truth out for all to see, and let it
stand as it may. The truth will out, and we will seek it until it does.

Your response quoted below is disappointing and is not a credit to you.

Regarding "Why is it so hard to believe that Winston could no longer... to
the large customers he deals with..." - does this mean he totally ignored
the mid and small segments of the user community? And what about the
community that is not a direct customer of HP, those with third party
maintenance that buy other HP hardware (PC's, printers, supplies, etc.) -
were they ignored as well because they're too small to be on Winston's
radar? Also a valid statement is that Winston and indeed most of this
community did not and does not have "full knowledge" of the "true" or
"full" number of ISV's - witness the increase in the number of companies
using the HP3000 list maintained by Tech Group and the discovery of several
previously unknown to this community companies that produce and distribute
software for the HP3000 (a winery in California producing software for
themselves and other wineries and a company that produces & supports
software for county records indexing and has approx. 100 installations are
two that immediately come to mind).

I agree that the 3000 community is intelligent, hard working, ethical,
etc. But I am saddened to read "conspiracy" stories from a few looking
for a scandal or looking for some devious behavior from HP. Why is
it so hard to believe that Winston could no longer in good conscious
recommend buying HP e3000s to the large customers he deals with given
that he has full knowledge of the sales, profit, number of ISVs, etc?...
