Don't need to do all this. Just run a small restore with a user that doesn't have save
file capabilities. I just forwarded an email that explains how restore works. I think it
would be more constructive to take this to 3rd or 4th level engineers and I am not
trying to be a smart aleck.

Hello Gary,
Just read your Email.
I will duplicate your situation in my lab, for this purpose I will need: your job file, the hpswinfo.pub.sys and command.pub.sys.
And lastly if it is all right with you, I might need to dial-in to your system, so I will need: the modem phone number and the mgr.telesup account (or other with SM capabilities) passwords.
We will get to the bottom of this!
Best regards,
Sebastien

Well I am here to inform you it most certainly was responsible. I just ran the same
job and restored to a test group and guess what? It deleted all the files in the test
group. Please see attached.

Hello Gary,
I verified with the second level engineers and restore was not responsible for the missing files. This could be a clean up job running prior to the restore job. That is their conclusion, they also added that restore does not delete the files, it simply overwrites them one at a time.
And from what the standard list is telling us there is simply nothing to suggest restore deleted the files.
Let me know if this answers you question.
Regards,
Sebastien
