One thing you might want to look into instead of spending hours on
changing capacities on master data sets is the introduction of dynamic
expansion on master sets (MDX). You can do this easily with Adager.

Once your masters have MDX you won't need to spend hours changing the
current capacities when TurboIMAGE will do it automatically for you behind
the scenes when the master data sets get full up. The caps change happens
invisibly behind the scenes for you if you set the MAXIMUM capacity to
a large enough number.

This doesn't fix your synonym problem but it will save you the blood,
sweat and tears of expanding data sets during business hours while keeping
your users off the system as the capacity change is going on....

I use the MDX on masters and DDX on details on all my apps and so far I
have had no trouble with it so far. Works just fine for me.
