One of the strongest arguments for the current application is likely to be
that it is in place. Acquiring, installing, learning, and customizing a new
application and its supporting infrastructure are big-time costs that should
only be undertaken if the current application lacks important capabilities
or the new one can contribute significantly to the bottom line. In fact,
the most likely reason anyone will advocate a new application is the very
set of misconceptions about MPE that Donna decries. For that reason,
"selling the merits of MPE" is almost certainly going to be a necessary part
of the process of championing the existing app. The list of companies using
MPE at http://www.techgroupmd.com/mpeusers.htm will be of use in that
effort, I should think.
