At your UPDATE command line, add CIUPDATE after UPDATE:

GET something
IF whatever
UPDATE CIUPDATE
EXT key=newkeyvalue
XEQ

Subject: [HP3000-L] Suprtool newbie

I have a record in a detail set that I need to modify in a test DB.

The field is a sort filed and is defined as a type K2.

When I attempt to update the record I get an error saying I need to make
sure ciupdate is set; it is set to allow.

Here's the commands I've used.

Get GENERATIONS
IF GENERATION=8
UPD
EXT GENERATION=1
X

Here's the error: Error: Please use the CIUPDATE option to update
critical fields.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm at a complete loss and any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks, and have a great Turkey Day.

Larry B.
