Some of you might have noticed that I posted a request to the list for
information and pricing on HP's DDS2 drives.  I sent it out to the HP3000 list as
a last resort, because HP Sales didn't send me a quote.  I contacted the HP
sales guy more than two weeks ago.  He said he'd have the quote to me
Thursday, then Friday; I haven't heard from him since and it's been more than a
week.  He has not called back and has not sent the quotes.  It seems obvious
to me now, that I should have skipped HP and went straight to the list.
 
I understand that 4 tape drives don't amount to much in the face of a new HP3k
or HP9k, but if you're going to sell the drives, shouldn't you SELL them?
 
I posted to the list at 11:05am yesterday.  By this morning, I had heard from 6
different vendors, offering the drives at less than half of what HP was guessing
over the phone.  It took six different vendors less than 24 hours to do what HP
didn't do in a week.  That is better service and better value.  Simple economics
say that if a company fails to offer better value to their customers, their
customers will go elsewhere.  If I can get that kind of service and pricing
elsewhere, why should I even consider making my next purchase, or future
purchases from HP?
