Tom,

Speedware has been around for a long time and it has evolved from a development tools provider to a migration services (there is more to it than that) company. It is now called Fresche Legacy (have a look at freschelegacy.com). It still provides and supports the development tools, one of which is Speedware/4GL. Visit http://www.freschelegacy.com/en/products/speedware-bi-and-development-tools for details.

No doubt in my mind that Speedware/4GL is a language. Whether it is a 3/3.5/4GL is debatable unless we can agree on the definition of 3/3.5/4GLs.

Thank you,

François

Roy,

'Speedware' is a company and/or a product.

http://hpmigrations.com/about_us/

"Speedware's mission is to be known worldwide for our unique ability to consistently perform successful, end-to-end modernization projects and for our expertise in technology, process and partnerships."

It seems that the 4GL you mention has a mission, and it has others involved - "... our unique ability...", "... our expertise...".

Tom.
