[my original note removed -- we're talking about the MINLOGON and MAXLOGON
jobs supplied by VESOFT]

: Well maybe you personally removed them, but somebody apparently
: *personally* put them back. I see references to it in both 2.4 and
: 2.5 of the Vesoft manual. Yes, the procedure exits will allow a
: change of the syntax of the hello command, actually eliminating
: the need for hello if you wish. The PE's will work on iX 4.0 or
: later.

[hmmmm, searching through memory...parity errors encountered...]

He's right. What I was actually told to do (and did) was to add a
disclaimer that "HP sometimes changes these messages and/or adds new
logon error messages...". If VESOFT is now keeping the job up-to-date
for each new release of MPE, that's great! But, if you are counting
on MINLOGON, you'd be well-advised to examine CATALOG.PUB.SYS
carefully after you stream it, and try out various types of invalid
logons yourself. Maintenance of this particular job is *not* a very
high priority at VESOFT.

Nothing against Security/3000. Just information relating to the
current discussion. I still believe the Procedure Exits are your
best bet for removing MPE's "here, let me help you break in" facility.
