I've resisted replying to this thread as long as I can:
As a Transact/iX user, all I can say is: :-)) .
..... No, Transact upgrades are not free, but you don't have
to mortgage the ranch: Going from a 957 to a 959KS/200
cost us just over $6000 in upgrade charges for Transact/iX.
I also cannot help but recall (actually, I can help it, but I
don't want to ;-) ) that after Interex - Boston 1990, Cognos
and HP came up with some kind of a "migration" package
for Transact users, before we turned HP around and got
all those additional Transact enhancements that have been
done over the last six years..... I used the word "migration"
in quotes very deliberately here of course, since there
was no such thing: Moving from Transact to PowerHouse
basically meant start over coding from scratch... I also
remember that in 1990-1991 PowerHouse cost $250K on
the high end (I still have the comparison sheet somewhere).
Anyway, from this and maybe some other threads, it sounds
like Cognos is winding down support for PowerHouse on the
3000...... Maybe HP should look into offering a "migration"
package to move existing PowerHouse users over to native
mode Transact !!??
..... Yes, I know: Another one of those "Give in to
temptation, it may not pass your way again".............
