I thought I would add my .02 worth. I only use x fields as
dates primarily for Image. Many times I make date fields sort
fields or may make date fields sort fields. Therefore I use X8
for all date fields.

Also at some sites I consult with, the only tool I have is
SUPRTOOL and Query. I have a tendency to use SUPRTOOL. I can
quickly dump the file and see my date fields just using editor
or print. Over the years I just hated to see a packed date
fields or even a packed number field as it just made my life
more difficult.

As far as programming goes, I have a date routine that I am
constantly updating that will convert many different types of
dates to and from an X10 field. Why X10, well because that is
a typical screen field
mm-dd-ccyy and I use my routine to also edit date fields from
Cobol apps.

I used to always use Powerhouse date fields but over the years
it became too difficult to use outside of PH.

But my question is the following:

If I am to change my database for century date, what is the
best format to use for client/user computing and especially for
ODBC? I want to choose only one format?
