Since you won't have much luck BUYING a DLT7000 from HP (they discontinued
the SMART DLT7000 -- though they do seem to still sell the pricier DLT7000
Library 1/8) -- luckily HP does state that they support the DLT8000 on the
HP3000.

From a fax I received this AM from HP:
<quote from HP "Solution ID: 47189">

DLT8000 Libraries (A5583A, A5585A, A5587A and A5597A) are supported with
MPE/iX 5.5 pp7 plus patch, and with MPE/iX 6.0 express 1 plus patch.
</quote>

(Note: The doc doesn't specify WHICH patch)

The helpful folks at Computech did find me a SMART DLT7000 unit (which is
about $3k cheaper than the A5501A DL7000 Library 1/8).
