There are already lots of offerings like this. Transformix has MPE
shell and there others out there too.
Actually on the scripting issue I think MPE came in too late and
too little. I remember scripting being pathetic on MPE V, and when
MPE XL and CI came it was a god send, but I had already had much
of this functionality on Unix ksh and csh, and VMS DCL for years.
I mean, how long did we have to wait for REDO and LISTREDO.
On new scripting projects, now I just write as much as I can in Perl
and run it on UNIX, MPE, VMS or Windows.
