I would recommend
<plug>
Netbase/Shareplex to remotely access the data. In this way, the data
access is transparent to your application and it is easy to move things
around. Also, Quest, the vendor, is very adept at moving data across the
network and performance is exceptionally good. I highly recommend their
products.
</plug>
We do this with a number of legacy applications in order to grow them
beyond the CM limits. We take a typical legacy application which normally
resides on one machine with it's DB and move it to an environment with a DB
server and a number of small but powerful application front end machines.
In addition to the RFA, you have the ability to shadow the data for
critical application availability.

Here is my scenario. I have an applicaiton that will run on several
nodes, but I want them all to access the same database on a single
node. NS services are available. Can you just set a file equation to
open the DB across the network, or is it necessary to get into the
net/ipc intrinsics?
Thanks
