Hello Everyone,

I would have sent earlier warnings about this problem, but our
CEO made the decision to isolate our networks from the outside
world for 24 hours from midday on NYE. Head in the sand attitude.

I was enjoying the company of a great group of old friends, with
plenty of good food, good champagne (and other drinkables),
and keeping an eye on the virtual console in the corner of my
sitting room.

Very shortly after midnight, the following appeared upon my screen:

:STRING OVERFLOW (PASCERR 650)
STRING OVERFLOW (PASCERR 650)
STRING OVERFLOW (PASCERR 650)
STRING OVERFLOW (PASCERR 650)

I did a show time, checked my clocks and everything seemed fine.

So where did the messages come from? We're on MPE/iX 5.5 PP4, and
have a test machine running the same version. We didn't see this error
on the test machine when its clock was advanced, several months ago,
and watched as it progressed into the new year.

I have no reports of any problems. Nothing happened. Except that
we all remarked on how superior Domain Chandon late-disgorged
brut is, compared to Pol Roger.

Cheers from within [real] Y2K,
Ron Burnett
