Lane's post prompted me to seek out my tattered old copy of K&R's "The C
Programming Language" (Copyright 1978 by Bell Telephone Laboratories,
Incorporated).
From the Preface :-
'C is not a "very high level" language, nor a "big" one, and is not
specialized to any particular area of application.'
They knew, they knew...
And the code that started it all (I think):-
main()
{
printf("hello, world\n");
}
Regards
Neil

C is older then that... My old tattered K&R C book is copyrighted in 1978.
My first intro to C was probably a year before then, when I belonged to the
explorer post at Tektronix.
