I was in Montreal once for Thanksgiving while I worked in NJ.
I loved it. A wonderful city.
Nice and pleasant people.
I even saw young people in the subway getting up and offer a seat to the 
older. 
Only downside was that alot refused to speak English. They wondered why I 
as a German spoke rather English than French.
The French in my area all spoke German.
