 Robert (et al)

Without giving too many secrets away. the HPDARRAY was inserted into MPE
around release 5.5 to allow
a number of array technologies to come to fruition without us (MPE lab guys)
having to develop new IDs for
each and every array on our horizon.

The SYMMETRIX and HPDARRAY IDs expect the same behavior from the array as
specified in a document
agreed upon by both parties many moons ago and hasn't change much since.
That document spelled out which
SCSI features are to be implemented and functional and the behavior of the
array during certain operations.

So in short, HPDARRAY does work but SYMMETRIX is more esthetically correct
when using that array
on an HP e3000.
