Larry,

I am new to HP3000-L so please excuse me for dropping in.

To use the Microsoft NT IIs 2 web server you require a 32 bit ODBC driver to
talk to the HP3000. There is currently a 32bit ODBC driver called Linkway from
CSL which has been out for about 2 years as a 32bit driver, longer as a 16bit
driver. CSL already has a working relationship with Speedware in Europe and
Linkway will work with any ODBC compliant software such as Autoban. An
alternative solution which you may wish to evaluate is Amazon from Intelligent
Environments which allows you to build a Web application very simply using ODBC
drivers. With Amazon you can control when things are done such as having the
database opened when the app starts not when a client asks for a page improving
speed and work loading on the 3000.

With the Linkway, NT and possibly Amazon solution a lot of the workload of
serving the web is kept off the 3000 and direct access to the HP3000 from
Internet/Intranet clients can be limited to meet current security schemes.

Details on Amazon may be found at http://www.ieinc.com.
An HP generated ODBC case study utilising Linkway(formally known as Freedom) can
be seen at http://www.hp.com/csy/europe/norton.html.
