Hi, LuAnn

Legacy system with face lift?

My bet is ODBC/32, IMAGE back-end Database and
Front End with MS Access/VBA/Office Development tool.
Intranet for Office 2K development tool, Cold Fusion for Internet.

MS Access is very fast development tool and stable within code,
most code can be done with SQL command with combo box..
but, Jet or MSDE is still weak for Enterprise environment of multi
user Database handling, and MS want to sell this gap with SQL.

But, HP 3000/IMAGE has solid multiuser performance record,
since I start working with IMAGE about 1/4 Century ago...
and Most legacy system has own Database.

ODBC/32 is strong performance tool to connecting HP3000
IMAGE and MS PC software.

Just need Project managers and bunch of MS-face lifter.

Cheers

Hi!

I am looking for some personal opinions on SpeedWare v6.0 to evaluate
if we should consider migrating some legacy in-house applications to
another environment. The most of the applications are running
SpeedWare v6 on an HP 3000/958 MPE/XL 5.5. There are some scattered
SpeedWare v5 around. If you are using it, or have used it, here are
some of my questions:

1. What is your overall impression with the product as compared to
other 4GLs?

2. How well does it support web-enabled requirements?

3. Where do you see SpeedWare for the long-term? Is it an in-demand
product? Or, is it being superceded by other products? If the later,
which products are replacing it?

4. Are SpeedWare programmers a difficult to find?

5. Is there anything else I should consider?

Thanks for your help!

LuAnne
