Thank you for emphasizing this point I am afraid I made all
too succinctly when I said that a command file could replace a
UDC provided the UDC, "is not replacing a native CI command."

It is such an important point that repetition is never amiss.
At this point in MPE's evolution there are now only two good
reasons to use a UDCs:

o To withhold or modify a native CI command, or

o To act at logon (i.e., OPTION  LOGON)

Everything else can and SHOULD be done with command files!
If for no other reason than they are much less bother to
maintain. There are other significant benefits -- however
saving time should be good enough justification.
