I've solved the (or at least another) problem with SAMBA/iX and Win95!
For those of you who are having the following symptoms, the problem turned
out to be that my /etc/resolv.conf (which is a symbolic link to
RESLVCNF.NET.SYS) was not configured properly! It particular, it did not
point to our internal DNS server, and the system I was connecting to is not
registered with any external DNS servers).
If you don't have a RESLVCNF.NET.SYS file, HP provides an example named
RSLVSAMP.NET.SYS; copy it to RESLVCNF.NET.SYS and edit it to match your
network configuration, then create a symbolic link, like this
:NEWLINK /etc/resolv.conf,/SYS/NET/RESLVCNF;SYMBOLIC
(both filenames *are* case-sensitive!)
Let me know if this works for you.
