Hello all,

Has anyone run into this, or have any suggestions as to a cause/action:

I've got a directory in which many or all of the files need to be updated
periodically. The new files arrive in a "tar" file. When I execute
"tar -xfo newfiles.tar" I get the following error message on every file
that pre-exists:

tar: write error on file "index.html": System call error

The error message is not specific enough. Is it an end of file problem?
Why doesn't tar purge the file first? I've verified that it's not a
permission problem.

     Any ideas?

                                                     Thanks
                                                     -Geoff
