It would be great if HP would kindly post HP's material on the web.

Ditto.

To me, the trip was worthwhile, because I learned a lot.

"Some information" covers a lot of territory. One learns a great
deal from what people say and do (and even more so from what people
don't say and don't do).
One learns a lot from the "atmosphere" and the "feel" of the whole
thing. Seeing a bunch of "security" and "body-guard" types (some
in "ill-fitting suits" as in the cold-war days :-) just before,
during, and just after Carly's speech was a real eye opener for
me. I used to run into Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard (in the
early 1970s) in the halls of various HP buildings and they always
sported a casual halo that was very endearing. But then, again,
it was refreshing to see Michael Capellas milling around the
(admittedly small and pre-selected) crowd at a private HP function
to which (to my amazement) I was invited :-) Ann Livermore was
the Mistress of Ceremonies and Michael Capellas jumped to the
stage at Ann's invitation. They charmed the attendees. I have
no clue regarding the reason for Carly's absence from the event.
I heard that she had just flown in from a far-away place and was
tired. Regardless of the reason, it was obvious that Ann and
Michael had eaten Carly's dinner :-)
Is this the kind of "some information" that you wanted, Michael
(Baier, not Capellas)?
There were thousands of attendees and I am sure there are
myriad different "takes" on the same "scenes". Different
people perceive differently and, as Apple notes (albeit a touch
ungrammatically), different individuals "think different".
Hopefully, you will hear complementary (and/or contradictory)
reports from other participants.
Thinking differently, as usual,
