I used to have the same problem occur frequently after first installing
our Linejet 1000Q. I worked with HP on the problem and after doing a
number of things the problem occurs very infrequently anymore.
1. Be running the latest firmware code on the printer. There may be a
later version, but my version is 2.08F Part No. 357056
2. Plug the printer's network connection directly in a switch, not a
hub. This should help prevent the printer from listening to excess
network traffic.
3. I believe I also lowered the recommended buffer size of the printer
setup a bit. In my case it seemed that while printing many pages with
small amounts of data on them, waiting for the paper to TOF multiple
times it seemed to loose connection with the HP spooler forcing me to do
the ABORTIO/START/STOPSPOOL routine to reactivate. The smaller buffer
size seemed to solve the problem in this case and has shown no negative
side effects. I have the buffer size set to 8.
As I said, the printer still hangs, but very infrequently and for no
apparent reason. Sometimes, repeatdly pressing the online/offline
button will re-establish communication and continue printing. Not sure
why. Does not work all the time though.
Hope this helps.
