They called me yesterday. I'm still not biting. For us, we just cut our budgets
40% this year and do not have the capital to put out "upfront"...I'm not okay
with the methodology the sales rep used either, not to mention being scoffed
at when I told him the "red flags don't make me comfortable." The call I received
was from the sales manager who promised to send me more details about the
full program via e-mail, but I never received it. Even with receiving a voucher
toward their services when (and IF, that's a big IF) we migrate, I'm still not
sure that they won't disappear. I have a hard time with this since I was told that
it was to "generate cashflow"....still red flags are waving......

Well... That got a response.

Bradmark just called. They cleared up a lot of the confusion over the
program they were offering. Probably too complicated to go into in a short
email. But I am feeling more comfortable about what they are trying to do.
Still not 100%. But definitely a whole heck of a lot more comfortable the
program they are offering makes good business sense to them and probably to
many customers. Also several misconceptions I had about the program have
been cleared up.

Those who were feeling uncomfortable with the way the Bradmark sales program
was presented to them might want to give Bradmark a return call. I'm not
promising anything and I don't know if it will help in a particular case.
Just saying some points about the program were originally described to me
incorrectly and another phone discussion helped clear it up for me
personally. (YMMV)

OK, OK... I need to stop the confusion even if it screws up negotiating a
lower price for myself!

It is Bradmark.

I do not personally know Brad Tashenburg. If a couple of the off-list
comments I have received are true then it is unlikely he has endorsed this
behaviour by his sales and marketing department. In that case I would guess
either Brad has lost control of his company or he has mistakenly hired an
a..hole as a sales person. If the latter, I would suggest someone who knows
him lets him know how people are reacting to this marketing initiative and
that just possibly he needs to do something about it.

As a result of this crap, I am looking for a replacement for DBAudit now. We
use Bradmark's DBAudit as part of our audit strategy so we can research the
origins of particular IMAGE database transactions for the auditors. Any
other tools which select TurboIMAGE log file records based on selection
criteria and report them?

In this case I probably really do need to add the usual legal qualification:
"Opinions expressed are mine and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of
Domtar or its employees"

John says:
Surely it must be C****s (no, there is one more letter than that!).

it's not Cognos!

And while taling about Cognos, let me say they have drastically changed
their pricing model during
the last few years. While I will not assume to represent them here, I have
to
admit they have made significant progress.
