Thanks for the input.  I wasn't looking for a history lesson on Basic.  I
haven't used it in 18 years.  When I was first learning programming I started
with Basic (even taught my own class while my instructor was in the
hospital!)  I then moved up to COBOL, but haven't use it in 10 years.
The responses delved into areas I hadn't considered.  But they were
interesting!
