I'm toying with the notion of network backups in a multiplatform
environment and wanted to poll the group on their experiences and
prefered products.

The potential target platforms include every major flavor of UN*X
(HP-UX, AIX, Solaris), MSDOS and Windows PCs, an odd NT box or two.
Preferably all systems could be backed up either automatically on
a rotating basis and should be controlled from a single point of
control (i.e., one stop for the operators).

My concerns are that (1) 10 Mb LANs are not nearly fast enough for this
type of backup, (2) the options may be limited as to the backup media
and drive types and (3) that a software product may not work well
against all platforms. Major hosts (multi gig systems) would have
to be backed up with seperate hardware to make batch windows (guessing).

BTW, MPE doesn't have to be in the loop, but I wouldn't object to it
being a hub.
