As the maintainer of the threaded HTTP version of this list (available at
<http://www.optc.com/Webbot>), I have a request:

  PLEASE, when replying to a previous post, trim the original
  post as much as possible. Include only the portions needed
  for context, not the entire text of the original.

Frequently, someone will start a thread with many details about a
particular situation. The responder will provide a succinct one- or
two-line answer, but will quote all prior information. This makes the
consolidated list very hard to read, at no particular gain in clarity for
those who use the mailing list or newsgroup.

A little extra effort spent in trimming down included text will make the
threaded archives a much more useful resource.
