I know there are a lot of people on this list far more qualified to talk
about MPE than me - but it has occurred to me that if MPE becomes open
source than we will see enhancements to the system that never would have
occurred had HP kept the 3000. Perhaps the offset could be with less tight
control (and testing?) we may experience short term bugs we haven't been
used to - but overall I am very hopeful and positive that OpenMPE will
occur...

Perhaps I am overly optimistic but as a small user I would be glad to
support any endeavor that fosters the open use of the source.

I know that OpenMPE or not we are continuing with our 917.

if it isn't broken why fix it?

For the fellow in NZ wanting a cheap 917 last time I called our vendor,
Genysis, I was told with a few days notice they could get one for $500. We
paid $7500 for ours 2 years ago...
