     I believe that this is a known problem that HP is working on.  We have
     seen the same thing here and at other sites.  You might also report it
     to raise the visibility.

Subject: False Negative on Vstore

I have been receiving a false error message when I run Vstore to verify
my nightly backup tape. When I check the tape (  restore files it says it
could not verify), all files seem to be stored . This is not an everyday
problem, so I thought at first it may be an issue with the tape, but it
has happened often enough ( three times in three weeks), that I am
beginning to wonder if it is something to do with the dat drive. Here is
the error message:


195 VSTORE ENCOUNTERED MEDIA READ ERROR ON LDEV 9  (S/R 1251)
196 SPECIFICALLY, VSTORE RECEIVED ERROR -44 FROM THE IO
197  SYSTEM (S/R 1555)
