The Grand Daddy of GUI computers is the Xerox Star.

The Mac might be considered the bastard child of the Star who then went on
to become the Daddy of GUI computers.

The currenly shipping version of Mac OS X Server is based upon Next which
is based upon BSD. It does have a command line interface, if you want to
use it. The consumer/desktop version of Mac OS X, which is due early next
year, will also have a command line available if you want it, but it should
be fairly well hidden and unnecessary for the average user.
