I don't have a clue if it is 'supported' or not but why oh why would HP care?
 Dictating the design of a network (however small) is well beyond the scope
of MPE support.

May I suggest a $5 hub to make somebody happy?  Would a mish-mash of a few
dozen hubs and switches make them more happy?
