Here's an update.  The HP CE replaced the failed drive in our XP RAID-5
raid
set and after that raid set had rebuilt for 25% the HP3000 system woke
up
and now is running.  All the processes appeared to wait for 8 hours
until
the disk was ready.

We're not sure what caused the outage or what brought it back to life.
I'm
now trying to review the log files on our system to see if it points to
anything.

You had to wait 8 hours until 25% was rebuilt on the replaced drive to
get working again, and it calls itself a RAID device, with "R" meaning
redundant.  The whole point of RAID is to allow disc drive failure
without stopping work.  Geez, the C225XHA drives we had worked as
advertised, as does our current EMC setup.  What a maroon.
