Hi all,
I searched the archives, but didn't see anything that'd
help: I've noticed that there are postings to the list for which I
receive answers, but not the original posting (see enclosed - and sorry
for the bandwidth). I don't have any filters/rules in OUTLOOK other
than to have all messages for the 3k list sent to a specific in box.
I do recall some other folks having this type of problem,
but I don't recall a resolution, but I don't recall a solution.
TIA, and have a great weekend!

Walter,
We're on 6.09 & 7.29C.
Is it true that all PowerHouse 4GL code has to be recompiled?
Usually, yes.
Is it common practice to test all QUICK, QTP, and QUIZ applications
after updating?
Yes. You have automated test packs? Nor do we.
Is it common to find things that work differently and have to be changed
after updating?
Less so than when going from V5 to V7.
Is there any compelling reason to upgrade?
If there is, we've not found it.
Is anything likely to break between now and 2027 if we don't?
The bond market?
Hope this helps.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Risks of staying on COGNOS 8.39.C1 on MPE/iX 7.5
Greetings,
We are on COGNOS 8.39.C1, which is not a supported release. We are on
MPE/iX 7.5.
We are weighing the risks of staying on this release indefinitely,
versus the effort and risks associated with updating to a supported
release.
Others in the shop have been through an update before. Is it true that
all PowerHouse 4GL code has to be recompiled? Is it common practice to
test all QUICK, QTP, and QUIZ applications after updating? Is it common
to find things that work differently and have to be changed after
updating?
Is there any compelling reason to upgrade?
Is anything likely to break between now and 2027 if we don't?
Walter

intention of arriving safely in a pretty and
well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out,
and loudly proclaiming:
-- WOW!!! What a Ride!!!
